Hi guys. Writing to you from our hostel in Berlin. We're staying in a part of Kreuzberg that's on the brink of becoming the new "it" place. Really a bit run down part of east Berlin that's gradually becoming more expensive and fancy due to the new central train station being built around the corner. Quite interesting. But let's not forget about the gigs.
Tuesday we played a gig in Jena, a rebuilt train station by the name of Kulturbahnhof. Aptly named as it translates to culture train station. The venue was more of a psychedelic rock place but we had a great connection right away with both staff, promotor and sound engineer. Everyone had a good time and some the gig even got recorded and filmed. If it's good enough we might even release some of it at a later date.
Yesterday we had our first proper gig in Berlin. The Badehause Szimpla instantly made claim to its name. The venue was being cleaned with chlorine when we arrived which made it smell like a swimming pool:)
We got a really nice vibe right away from the sound guy. He didn't speak a lot of English and we don't know a whole lot of German but he was really serious and attentive from the start. We also had a great opening act by the name of Maxim Draga. Check him out. Not a huge crowd but a really nice night. And we made a lot of new friends.
Have a good one/ calle
