Hi guys. Time for another update.
Last time I wrote we were on our way to Dresden and the ambitious Soul Weekender party at the Ostpol club. A really nice night at an old venue that also featured incredibly old video game cabinets in the vein of Pong. Really fun and a great crowd.
Dresden is also the home town of our booking agent and on Friday he took us for lunch at his father's house. This was an amazing experience. Detlef Reinemar is a great sculptor with an amazing house in the area commonly known as little Nice. One of the wine districts in Germany, we got to see nature and architecture that we didn't think existed in this country. And then we haven't even mentioned the food. Homegrown home cooking that was the best we had all tour.
Friday night we arrived at the Franz Melhose club in Erfurt. A city we've never been to before. We were a bit surprised to find out it was a cozy little cafe. That is, until the true club was unveiled from behind a big drape.
This turned out to be one of the best gigs of the tour. A packed room with 200 people dancing their hearts out. Great hosts, great venue and great crowd. We'd love to return in summer:)
We also had time for some sightseeing for a change and we can tell you this is one beautiful city. Almost all of the old architecture is completely intact. And the Dom is a sight to be seen.
The caravan continued to Marburg on Saturday. The venue was called Kfz and we got a really great welcome. Incredibly professional staff made us feel welcome from the get go. While it wasn't quite as full as the Franz Melhose the crowd was just as great. The Kfz seems to attract all different ages and we had a fun time watching everyone dance together. Our cds sold out in a matter of seconds after the gig.
Sunday was our day off. A well needed rest after playing just about every night for two weeks. We had a bit of trouble finding our way to the next town, the small town of Witzenhausen, and no one had much energy to do anything but go to sleep at the hotel.
Monday was spent with everyone in the band relaxing in their own way. Going for walks, visiting a farm and in my case just laying in bed all day.
So it was a well rested and excited Combo de la musica who played at the student club last night. Who knew that farmers and agricultural students were such great dancers. There was so much energy in the room that we almost couldn't stop playing. Thank you so much, Witzenhausen:)
Now we're going to Jena. Who knows what awaits us there?;)
Alles Gute/Carl and Cdlm
